Xcel Energy restoration efforts after storm impact causing power outages across Tx Panhandle
AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - Winter Storm Billy continues to impact communities served by Xcel Energy on the Texas South Plains and throughout the Texas Panhandle, having coated power lines and weighed down tree limbs, taking out transmission service and main distribution feeders serving several of our communities.Additional Xcel Energy crews from Colorado and New Mexico are now on site to help with restoration efforts.
And while many jobs have provided unique challenges, from broken poles to extensively damaged wires and equipment, crews continue to work safely and steadily even while the storm continues overnight, heavily in parts.
The safety and welfare of our employees, customers, and communities is our top priority.
While some communities are restored and others, such as Allison, Crosbyton, Darrouzett, Follett, Hale Center, Higgins, Kress, Lipscomb, McLean, Mobeetie, Plainview, Silverton and Washburn wait for restoration, we greatly appreciate the continued patience and understanding of our customers and communities.
According to Xcel Energy, the crews will be working around the clock to restore service to all the communities affected by this storm.
