Late ESPN Football Reporter Vaughn McClure Honored at Falcons-Panthers Game The beloved Falcons beat reporter died earlier this month at his home near Atlanta Late ESPN reporter Vaughn McClure is being honored during Thursday night's NFL game between the Atlanta Falcons and Carolina Panthers. McClure died earlier this month at age 48, PEOPLE  previously reported , at his home near Atlanta, Georgia. His cause of death has not been publicly released. Beloved by his colleagues at ESPN and the NFL, McClure was a beat reporter covering the Falcons. Earlier this week, the Falcons announced that a tribute would be set up for McClure at his spot in the press box at Mercedes-Benz stadium for the rest of the season. "A passion for his craft and the relationships that he held. Vaughn McClure will have his seat for the remainder of the season in @MBStadium," the team  tweeted  on Sunday ahead of the game against the Detroit Lions, who ended up winning 23-22.  Included in the tweet wa

Taylor Rapp battling back after preseason injury A year removed from recording 100 tackles in his rookie season for the Los Angeles Rams, second-year safety  Taylor Rapp  is still contributing in 2020 despite suffering a training camp injury. In August, Rapp suffered a knee injury that sidelined him until early September, causing him to lose valuable practice reps before the season. Even with the setback, Rapp was ready for Week 1 of this season and has played in all six games so far. He has recorded 33 tackles, one tackle for loss, and one pass defended in the Rams’ 4-2 start. Because of his absence at training camp, the door was opened for rookie  Jordan Fuller  out of Ohio State to take his starting spot at strong safety. Despite losing his starting job, Rapp still prepared every week as if he was the starter. "It's definitely been tough for me, but every week I really prepare like I'm a starter no matter what," Rapp said. "If I'm an actual starter playing

LA Rams LT Andrew Whitworth playing younger as time goes on Despite his status as one of the oldest NFL offensive lineman, LA Rams left tackle Andrew Whitworth is playing like he’s in his prime The LA Rams  brought back venerable offensive tackle Andrew Whitworth for another three-year run with the team as the starting left tackle. As the offseason began,  we  explored what options did the Rams truly have for their left tackle  position.  We concluded that, for better or worse, the Rams had no alternative. They had to bring back Whitworth. Of course, when a player is nearly 39 years old and at one of the most physically demanding positions of the NFL, you would expect age to impact performance somewhat. And yes, it has. Perhaps not in the way you might expect, though.  You see, after six games, Whitworth is performing at one of the best levels of his lengthy career. With a little help from his friends Per Pro Football Focus, he is the best offensive tackle in the NFL. And for all inten

Sean McVay sees endless potential in Rams RBs coach Thomas Brown By now, Sean McVay should be used to losing his coordinators and assistants to promotions around the NFL. He’s seen Matt LaFleur, Zac Taylor and Greg Olson all leave for either coordinator or head coaching jobs, which is a testament to the impact McVay has on his assistants. He should prepare to possibly lose Thomas Brown at some point, too. Brown is currently the Rams’ running backs coach but McVay sees no limit on how high he can ascend in the coaching ranks. McVay left no doubt about Brown’s potential as a coordinator candidate, despite this being his first gig in the NFL. “Yes. I think that there’s no limit for this guy,” he said last week. “I’d be so happy for him if he continues to ascend but sad for the Rams. I think he can do whatever he wants. I think he’s definitely a coordinator. I think he’s got head coach potential, in terms of his leadership and the way he relates to guys. This guy’s a great coach. I don’t t

Quick Hits: Gipson interception sets tone against Panthers The Bears didn't have to play from behind at all on Sunday. The team has climbed to 5-1 due to three fourth-quarter comebacks. Against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, however, the Bears defense set the team up to control the game through a dominating first drive that culminated in an interception deep in Panthers territory. First, linebackers Khalil Mack and Robert Quinn stuffed running back Mike Davis for a one-yard loss. Then, defensive end Bilal Nichols sacked quarterback Teddy Bridgewater inches shy from the goal-line. In two plays, the Bears had forced the Panthers into an uncomfortable third-and-long: exactly the opportunity in which this defense can thrive. "They're typically a team that likes to live in a third-and-2 to 6 because they're so efficient, man," said safety Tashaun Gipson Sr. "They don't get behind in the sticks. And we was able to get them behind on the sticks." Gipson w
