The $1.6 million SSC Tuatara just became the world's fastest car by topping 316 mph The SSC Tuatara looks like someone turned a batarang into a car and can hit 316 mph. James Lipman/SSC North America The SSC Tuatara set the new record for world's fastest production car on a seven-mile stretch of State Route 160 in Nevada. The old record belonged to the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport's 304.77 mph. SSC will only build 100 Tuataras and each will be priced starting at $1.6 million.
