Fred Dean, Hall of Fame defensive end, dies at age of 68 Pro Football Hall of Fame defensive end   Fred Dean   died Wednesday at the age of 68, the Hall confirmed Thursday. "The entire Pro Football Hall of Fame family mourns the passing of Fred Dean," Hall of Fame president and CEO David Baker said in a statement. "He exemplified many of the values learned from this great game -- commitment, integrity, courage -- over the course of his life. Our thoughts and prayers are with Fred's wife, Pam, and their entire family. We will forever keep his legacy alive to serve as inspiration for future generations. The Hall of Fame flag will be flown at half-staff in Fred's memory." C-SPAN political editor Steve Scully suspended after admitting he lied about his Twitter feed being hacked New York (CNN Business) C-SPAN said Thursday that Steve Scully, the network's senior executive producer and political editor, has been placed on "administrative leave" for lying about being hacked earlier this month. Scully admitted to "errors in judgement" and apologized in a  statement . And President Trump took a victory lap, proclaiming on Twitter, "I was right again!" Scully had been selected by the Commission on Presidential Debates to moderate the town hall-style debate that was supposed to take place on Thursday night. It would have been a pinnacle moment for his career. Last week, however, the debate was scrapped after Trump objected to the virtual format imposed by the commission.
