The number of proposals for new fund offers (NFOs) filed by mutual fund houses with market regulator Sebi slumped 64 per cent to 41 in the first nine months of 2020 largely due to high volatility, uncertainty in the market and redemptions from established schemes. Some experts attributed the decline in NFOs to mutual fund categorisation and rationalisation by Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi).
