Premier League, everton vs liverpool, Liverpool, Everton

Three talking points from the Premier League Another high-scoring Premier League weekend left the title race wide open as Liverpool suffered the devastating blow of losing Virgil Van Dijk to a knee ligament injury. The champions also dropped two points in a contentious 2-2 Merseyside derby draw as Everton remain in top spot. Aston Villa are the only side with a 100 percent record after Ross Barkley's late winner beat Leicester 1-0. But Chelsea and Tottenham's title credentials were again called into question after they managed to spurn multiple-goal leads to draw 3-3 at home to Southampton and West Ham respectively. AFP Sports looks at three talking points from the Premier League weekend. Derby costs Liverpool dear Liverpool had the look of champions as they bounced back from a 7-2 humiliation at Villa before the international break with a much-improved performance at Everton. But Jurgen Klopp's men lost more than just two points as decisions went against them at Goodison P...

Real Madrid,real madrid vs cadiz

Barcelona, Real Madrid both lose ahead of Clasico Real Madrid and Barcelona will each head into the Clasico next weekend on the back of a defeat after La Liga's two title favourites were punished for slack performances on Saturday. Zinedine Zidane made four substitutions at half-time but could not spark a lethargic Madrid into life as his team fell 1-0 at home to newly-promoted Cadiz.  Then two hours later on the opposite side of the city, Ronald Koeman tasted his first competitive loss as coach of Barcelona as they followed Madrid's example by being beaten 1-0 by Getafe at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez. Madrid's was perhaps the more concerning display, the reigning champions managing just two shots on target against Cadiz, who could have scored more after Anthony Lozano's early strike.  But Barca were not much better, with Lionel Messi strangely quiet and the team failing to rebound after Jaime Mata's penalty gave Getafe the lead in the second half. For Madrid, there ...

Arsenal, man. city vs arsenal

Saka 7/10 but Arsenal rue missed chances and 5/10 Bellerin struggles Arsenal   slipped to their second Premier League defeat of the season as   Raheem Sterling 's strike secured all three points for   Manchester City   in a cagey affair at the Etihad. The Gunners struggled to cope with  Riyad Mahrez  in the opening stages and the winger's vision led to the game's only goal as he picked out  Phil Foden , whose drive was parried straight to Sterling by goalkeeper  Bernd Leno  and the  England  man calmly converted. Beyond that Mikel Arteta's side produced a largely-assured performance and  Bukayo Saka  came close to a leveller, but Arsenal struggled to penetrate City's defensive line and the hosts held on comfortably. Positives For now at least, Arteta's men remain just a point behind second, while Saka continued to show glimpses of why he's such an exciting prospect. If nothing else, the visitors worked tirelessly after the...

Report: Liverpool asks Premier League to investigate derby decisions Liverpool is requesting that the Premier League investigate decisions that went against it in Saturday’s 2-2 derby draw with Everton at Goodison Park. Sky Sports reports that the Reds  are angry with two decisions involving Video Assistant Referee. [ MORE:  Match recap  |  Van Dijk injured  |  Klopp fumes  ] Toffees goalkeeper Jordan Pickford went unpunished for a dangerous tackle that may have seriously injured Virgil van Dijk, with the foul coming after an offside.  PGMOL said its decision not to review it  was based on the judgment of Pickford’s challenge being a subjective decision. Playing up a man in stoppage time, Liverpool looked to have seized all three Merseyside derby points but VAR found that Jordan Henderson’s late winner included an offside Sadio Mane. Video showed that the call was marginal, at best, and Liverpool was left fuming. From Sky Sports : Liverpool a...
