McClure died earlier this month at age 48, PEOPLE  previously reported , at his home near Atlanta, Georgia. His cause of death has not been publicly released. Beloved by his colleagues at ESPN and the NFL, McClure was a beat reporter covering the Falcons. Earlier this week, the Falcons announced that a tribute would be set up for McClure at his spot in the press box at Mercedes-Benz stadium for the rest of the season. New England Patriots • Mohamed Sanu • National Rugby League • San Francisco 49ers • Atlanta Falcons

Mohamed Sanu opens up about difficult tenure with Patriots Sanu opens up about difficult tenure with  Patriots  originally appeared on  NBC Sports Boston Before last year's NFL trade deadline, the New England Patriots traded away a second-round pick to the  Atlanta Falcons  for wide receiver Mohamed Sanu. Sanu was supposed to be the missing piece to the puzzle for a Patriots offense that needed another weapon for then-quarterback  Tom Brady . Unfortunately, the trade turned out to be one of the worst of the Bill Belichick era. In eight games, Sanu caught only 26 passes for 207 yards and one touchdown. The veteran wideout  opened up the difficult transition  to New England in a conversation with Albert Breer of The MMQB. Re-setting the Patriots depth chart at WR without Edelman, Harry “It was definitely a hard playbook,” Sanu said. “I get playbooks very easily—I understand the Falcons playbook like the back of my hand. People would s...

Carolina Panthers • Jeremy Chinn • National Rugby League • NFL Honors - AP Defensive Rookie of the Year • Linebacker

Jeremy Chinn named Defensive Rookie of the Month for October CHARLOTTE — Safety  Jeremy Chinn  on Thursday was named the NFL's Defensive Rookie of the Month for October. In four games, Chinn recorded 30 total tackles, four passes defensed, and an interception. He led all rookies in tackles and was second in passes defensed. While he still has one game left in the month, as the Panthers will take on the Falcons on Thursday night, the rest of the league won't play until the calendar flips to November. Chinn joins  Brian Burns  (September 2019), Luke Kuechly (December 2012) and Julius Peppers (October 2002) as the only Panthers to win Defensive Rookie of the Month honors. The Panthers traded up to pick Chinn at No. 64 overall in the second round of this spring's draft. He's quickly become one of Carolina's most important defensive contributors, playing 97 percent of the unit's snaps through seven games. Chinn leads all rookies with 56 total tackles and is tied for ...

Carolina Panthers • National Rugby League • Matt Rhule • Head coach

Panthers offensive statistics highlight the key area needing improvement Here’s a look at the good and the bad in the performance of the Panthers offense in 2020. We are now seven games into Matt Rhule’s inaugural season as the head coach of the  Carolina Panthers . I’ve been mildly impressed with how the team is progressing in spite of it being a ‘rebuilding year’ so to speak. In fact I can see the Panthers winning upwards of eight games, something I would not have imagined back in August. The main driver of my enthusiasm is the offenses ability to move the ball down the field and control the clock. I think Joe Brady’s offense is effective for the most part but it is not without areas needing improvement. Looking at the Panthers offensive statistical rankings we can see where the offense has been effective and where it needs improvement in order to rise above mediocrity. Per NFL GSIS , the Panthers are in the top 10 of the NFL in the following offensive categories: · 5th in passin...
