Casinos announce closures ahead of Hurricane Zeta

The Mississippi Gaming Commission announced it is not mandating that casinos close for Hurricane Zeta, but did discourage people from visiting the gaming halls.

“We have asked the properties to discourage patrons or staff from arriving at, or departing from the property during inclement weather and to discourage anyone from leaving the property until conditions allow for safe travel,” MGC told the Sun Herald.

The commission will continue to monitor conditions and make recommendations as needed.

Individual casinos are closing as their conditions merit. Announced closings thus far:

Island View Casino Resort remains open; however, some areas of operation may be affected until Hurricane Zeta has passed. The Buffet, C&G Grille and both coffee shops will remain open. All other dining will close at 2 p.m. Promotions & giveaways scheduled after 2 p.m. are cancelled.

Golden Nugget Biloxi will remain open Wednesday, with some limitations to food and beverage offerings. We ask that anyone already visiting our property or considering a trip to follow the National Hurricane Center for updates, and to avoid traveling to or from our property during the storm, as hurricane conditions and road flooding may present dangerous travel conditions.

Palace Casino is closing at 1 p.m. Wednesday “out of an abundance of caution.” The casino plans to reopen at 8 a.m. Thursday unless otherwise directed by the Mississippi Gaming Commission.

Silver Slipper Casino closed at noon Wednesday after Hancock County EMA issued a mandatory evacuation for the area.

Hollywood Casino Gulf Coast & Boomtown Biloxi are closing at 1 p.m. Wednesday and anticipate reopening at 10 a.m. Thursday.

Scarlet Pearl Casino Resort has made the decision to close by 1 p.m. Wednesday. The safety of our guests and staff members are of utmost importance. Please stay safe during the storm. The casino plans to reopen at 10 a.m. Thursday unless otherwise directed by the Mississippi Gaming Commission.

IP Casino Resort will close at 1 p.m. Wednesday.

Treasure Bay Casino Resort is closing at 12 p.m. Wednesday and plans to reopen at 8 a.m. Thursday.

Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Biloxi closed at 12 p.m. Wednesday in advance of Hurricane Zeta. We anticipate reopening Thursday morning.

Beau Rivage Resort & Casino has not announced its plans on social media pages.

Harrah’s Gulf Coast has not announced its plans on social media pages.
