'Red Table Talk': Rumer Willis Talks Losing Virginity To Older Man Who 'Took Advantage'

Rumer Willis recently got candid about her first time being intimate with someone.
In the sneak peek of Tuesday's episode of "Red Table Talk," Willis revealed that she lost her virginity at 18 years old to an older man who didn't "check in" with her about whether she was ready to have sex. While she doesn't consider what he did rape or abuse, the actress said she also wasn't overly enthusiastic about it.
"When I lost my virginity, when I was 18, I was more concerned with the shame that I was feeling at not having done it. I was not abused or wasn't raped... but I didn't say yes," Willis, 31, told Jada Pinkett Smith, Willow Smith and Adrienne Banfield-Norris on the Facebook Watch series. "I wasn't gung-ho about it. But I also didn't say no. I just let it happen."
"He was older and took advantage, and didn't check in. That's where I feel like the man's responsibility is. No means no, but what if you can't say no?" she added.
Facebook users shared their thoughts about Willis' revelation, with some revealing that they were looking forward to the episode because they can relate to her experience. The topic also became a discussion about being mindful of one's partner's feelings.
"I was 12 when I was in that situation I didn't say yes and this guy being twice my age ensured I couldn't say no either. I look forward to this video. Red table talks have been healing me through so much," one commented on the video.
"It’s not only about ‘no means no’ ... it has to be an enthusiastic ‘YES’ from both parties! No ambiguity, full participation and enjoyment by all," another wrote.
"It’s definitely about being mindful of the feelings of your partner and being empowered about our own bodies. I’m working diligently to put those values onto my children," a third Facebook user commented.
Others, however, said that consent should be the responsibility of both people involved in the act.
"Women need to speak up. This needs to be taught to ALL kids. Don’t push if someone says no and when you don’t want it, SPEAK UP," another Facebook user wrote.
Filmed before the coronavirus pandemic, the "Red Table Talk" episode, which will focus on discussions about sexual consent, also features Amber Rose and DeAndre Levy. The new episode will premiere Tuesday at 12 p.m. EDT on Facebook Watch.
