Welcome to The Six, Joe.
In his NHL career, the London, Ont. native is a six-time All-Star, recorded 420 goals and 1,636 points, and he was the recipient of the Art Ross and Hart Trophy in 2006. Thornton is currently in Switzerland playing for HC Davos, but is expected to return in time for the NHL’s training camp.
Not only is Thornton a big veteran addition to the Maple Leafs, but the signing caused a “Jumbo” reaction on social media.
Man I’m going to miss ya, but feel very fortunate to play with you and become great friends. So many fun memories in a short period of time. I’ll make sure to keep your seat next to me at the back of the plane vacant until you come back. pic.twitter.com/i2sJdY23nr

Between Simmonds, Bogosian, Brodie and Thornton, it’s been a great summer for the uncles of the GTA
