As everyone gears up to celebrate the festival, celebs reveal what evil they wish to eradicate from their life and society, what’s the biggest lesson they have learnt from the Ramayana and who is their favourite Ramayana character. Ego vs confidence

It is quite common for people to mistake their ego as confidence since there is a very thin line separating the two. Being egoistic tends to make you disrespectful to others, which is a clear indication that you are under the influence of the evil. The ego is the worst enemy of the soul which one should get rid of. The basic teaching of the Ramayana is that no matter how powerful evil is, it will always be defeated by good. Truth always wins, no matter how vicious or poisonous lie is. My favourite character from the Ramayana is Lord Hanuman. He is the epitome of devotion, courage and strength.

Family, above all

This Dasehra I want unemployment to end. This is the root-cause of hunger and poverty. The life lesson that I learnt from the Ramayana is that family is important. My favourite character from the Ramayana is Lakshman. The devotion and love that he had for his brother knew no bounds. I feel this again shows family values and love for your siblings.

Women power

Being a woman, I want rape to end from society. The torture and pain a woman goes through is only known to her, and no living being should go through that kind of brutality. A life lesson that I learnt from the Ramayana is that you must control your temptations. You must not run after things that tempt you, instead you must be happy and satisfied with what you have. This is in reference to how Sita got lured by the golden deer and asked Ram to catch it. But having said that, my favourite character from the Ramayana is Sita. I feel she was a very strong woman, both physically and mentally. She took up all the challenges life threw at her and faced them bravely.

Equality always

I am a late riser, and I want to get rid of this habit. The Ramayana taught me that one should treat everyone equally. When you treat everyone equally, you earn love and respect from everyone. My favourite character from the Ramayana is Lord Ram. There are so many things that you can learn from him, like be calm, never give up, respect everyone, be loyal and be kind to everyone.

I want to put a stop to hunger not just in India, but worldwide. Each one, feed one, should be our motto and we should do our bit first and then ask the government to help out.
