Bellator 250: “Lima vs. Mousasi” is set to air tonight (Thurs., Oct. 29, 2020) from Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn. The vacant Middleweight title is up for grabs as Welterweight champion, Douglas Lima (32-7), goes up in weight to face down former 185-pound kingpin, Gegard Mousasi (46-7-2).

Brandon Girtz vs. Henry Corrales
Girtz is 16-9 in the red gloves and black trunks for his Bellator move down to 145 lbs. Corrales brings a record of 17-5 and has the blue gloves, black trunks, and “Diary of a Madman” by Gravediggaz walking him to the cage. He has a slight one inch reach advantage at 70” but everything else is “virtually identical.” Corrales fights out of Glendale, Arizona and Girtz fights out of Denver, Colorado. The referee is Todd Anderson.
Round 1: A glove tap gets things underway. Both men are lunging forward trying to feel out the range, prompting Anderson to warn them to watch their fingers. Girtz rushes in and tries to explode. Corrales and Girtz both land kicks. Girtz swings and misses with a right. Leg kick for Corrales. Girtz keeps pawing at him with the right hand and Corrales mimics him with the left hand. Girtz with a body kick at 2:10. Corrales with a leg kick. Both men exchange leather. Girtz lands a clean right but Corrales walks through it. Corrales tries to back Girtz up and he throws another big right. Corrales loads up a body shot. Girtz moves to the outside and circles to his left. Corrales tags him with a right. Girtz charges forward but Corrales lands the counters clean while Girtz doesn’t connect. Body kick for Girtz. Leg kick for Corrales. 10-9 Corrales.
Round 2: Corrales stings Girtz with a hard leg kick in the first 30 seconds. Corrales goes to the body again. Girtz is definitely on his back foot trying to protect himself. He cautiously inches his way toward the middle and Corrales answers with an overhand left. Body kick for Girtz momentarily makes Corrales pause. Straight left by Girtz. Hard leg for Corrales and his corner is telling Henry that Girtz’ has nothing left on the right side. He’s certainly bouncing up and down on that foot trying to get feeling into it. Corrales attacks it again and again. Right jab by Corrales. Corrales cuts the angle as Girtz circles to the left. Girtz rushes in and eats an uppercut for his trouble. 10-9 Corrales.
Round 3: Girtz shoots in trying to make it a phone booth fight but Corrales continues to eat him up with the counter shots and the leg kicks. Another leg kick at 52 seconds makes Girtz wince. Another one at 1:09. Girtz knocks Corrales off balance with a left hand and tries to get a takedown. Corrales breaks it at 1:29 and kicks that right leg again. Girtz is having trouble putting weight on it. It’s ironic that he’s often called “Hurts” Girtz because he’s the one hurting right now. Body kick lands for Girtz. His face is beet red and his leg is turning black and blue. Girtz swings and misses with two minutes to go. They circle each other in the center of the cage. Girtz misses wildly with a right. Body kick for Girtz. Wild miss that Corrales counters hard. As Josh Thomson says, “Corrales is doing a good job of making Girtz miss.” Leg kick and a one-two combo for Corrales in quick succession. Body shot for Corrales. They trade hands with 10 seconds left but neither falls. 10-9 Corrales.
Final result: Henry Corrales by unanimous decision.
Dalton Rosta vs. Ty Gwerder
Rosta is 3-0 in the red gloves, 6’0”, 185.5 lbs. Gwerder is 5-1 in the blue gloves, 6’1”, 184.2 lbs. Gwerder has a 2.5” reach advantage at 76.5”. He wears the white trunks and fights out of Las Vegas, Nevada. Rosta wears red trunks and fights out of Coconut Creek, Florida. Our referee in charge of the bout is Todd Anderson.
Round 1: No glove tap after the opening bell. Gwerder is crowding Rosta and putting him on his back foot early. Both men have landed kicks. Gwerder with a left hook. Rosta with a counter left. Another leg kick from Gwerder. Rosta catches a kick and lets it go. Rosta tags Gwerder with a right and in a telling sign he’s trying to laugh it off. Uppercut and left hook both land for Rosta. Leg kick for Gwerder. Jab and a head kick that’s partially checked for Rosta. Now it’s Rosta who is crowding Gwerder and forcing him backward. Gwerder tries to reassert with a flying knee, Rosta avoids it and drops levels. He gets the takedown after a scramble and ends up on the back against the fence, with Gwerder taking knees from behind. One minute to go. Rosta throws him down again and then pushes him to the cage. Short knees. Rosta slips behind, drags Gwerder to the ground and gets one hook in. He’s got both hooks but short time. 10-9 round for Rosta.
Round 2: Rosta is coming forward early and looking for both the right hook and the right kick to the body. Gwerder paws at him and Rosta charges with a combo. He drops levels for a single and gets Gwerder down at 1:22. Rosta transitions to the back and gets the hooks in with three minutes left. Gwerder manages to sit back up but with Rosta on his back he has nowhere to go. Rosta throws lefts and rights at his head from behind. Rosta stands back up to drive knees to the body, Gwerder tries to break free, they trade knees and return to the center at 3:50. Gwerder comes forward and Rosta shifts to the side. Rosta comes forward with a combo. Hard body shot by Rosta. Jab from Gwerder. Head kick by Gwerder is checked. Side kick by Rosta. 10-9 Rosta.
Round 3: Gwerder started out coming forward but Rosta changed the direction within 30 seconds. Gwerder stops that with a nice left hand. Rosta throws a body kick and backs Gwerder up. Leg kick for Rosta. Gwerder misses with a combo as Rosta slips away. Rosta throws a jumping knee that didn’t connect, but it does make Gwerder back up to avoid the impact. Rosta hurts him with a couple of rights and shoots, getting a takedown at 2:45. Rosta takes the back with under two minutes to go. He takes full mount for some ground and pound then Gwerder just gives up the back again rather than get blasted. Gwerder looks to reverse and get up with 22 seconds left but Rosta ties him up and won’t let him get away. 10-9 Rosta.
Final result: Dalton Rosta via unanimous decision of 30-27 X3.
