Start Up Ep 1: Nam Da Reum sweeps fans off their feet in an emotional debut episode; Suzy wins hearts
The first episode of Start-Up aired on Saturday night, October 17, on tvN and it wasn't something we were prepared for. The new drama stars Suzy, Nam Joo Hyuk, Kim Sun Ho and Kang Han Na in the lead. For those who haven't seen the episode yet, a warning that there are spoilers ahead. The series premiere episode was a potpourri of emotions, with tears streaming down our face by the time the episode ended. The first episode revisited the four characters' past. While it revealed that Seo Dal Mi (Suzy) and Won In Jae (Kang Han Na) were sisters, the episode also showed that Han Ji Pyeong (Kim Sun Ho) was entangled in the sisters' past in an unimaginable way. We witnessed the trio's past through their younger selves. Although all the young artists essayed their respective roles with finesse, Nam Da Reum undoubtedly stood out as the younger version of Han Ji Pyeong aka Good Boy.
The actor proved yet again that he was born to be an actor. His screen presence, chemistry with Seo Dal-Mi's grandmother and that heartbreaking scene where he is parting ways with the grandma elevated the episode. To top it off, Heo Jung Eun who played the younger version of Seo Dal Mi left no dry eye in the house with her performance. Clearly, we weren't the only ones who felt that way. Check out a few tweets that gush about the actor.
He's not even the main lead but his story already hits differently and the way Nam Da Reum's acting never disappoints #StartUp #StartUpEp1 pic.twitter.com/44n2wbtxKp

It’s a classic Park Hye Ryun’s drama and I just love it! Kim Hae Sook - Nam Da Reum stole the show #StartUpEp1

This scene really hits me. How can they make me cry in the pilot ep. Give Nam Da Reum his own lead drama.
PS: I'm loving Kim Hae Sook already. #스타트업 #StartUp #StartUpEp1 pic.twitter.com/2mmUTGLfxR— M (@yourkdramaunnie) October 18, 2020
