Giuliani Reportedly Caught With His Hand In His Pants In New ‘Borat’ Film
Topline
Comedian Sacha Baron Cohen’s latest mockumentary, Borat Subsequent Moviefilm, may spell trouble for the Trump Administration, as media outlets are describing a scene in which President Trump’s personal attorney Rudy Giuliani appears to have reached into his pants suggestively in the presence of an actress posing as a journalist, though some viewers say the scene isn’t as nefarious as it has been characterized.
Key Facts
According to The Guardian, Giuliani was captured on film by hidden cameras reaching into his pants and apparently fondling himself after being invited into a hotel room with an actress pretending to be a reporter for a conservative television show in Kazakhstan after an interview.
In the film, Giulani “can be seen lying back on the bed, fiddling with his untucked shirt and reaching into his trousers,” according to the report, at which point Cohen’s character barges in and tells the former mayor of New York, “She’s 15! She’s too old for you!”
Journalists and figures from the entertainment world who have seen the clip disagree on the nature of what Giuliani was doing—some say he was adjusting his shirt, while others allege the scene is “worse than you think.”
The Guardian’s account contradicts how Giuliani himself described the incident to the New York Post over the summer, saying he was taking part in an interview when “this guy comes running in, wearing a crazy—what I would say was a pink transgender outfit.”
Giuliani said he called the police on Cohen, believing it may have been “a scam or a shake-down.”
“I only later realized it must have been Sacha Baron Cohen. I thought about all the people he previously fooled, and I felt good about myself because he didn’t get me,” Giuliani said at the time.
Giuliani took to Twitter to defend himself Wednesday, writing that he was just tucking in his shirt, adding: “At no time before, during, or after the interview was I ever inappropriate. If Sacha Baron Cohen implies otherwise he is a stone-cold liar.”
Key Background
Cohen uses his Borat character, an utterly tone-deaf and politically incorrect journalist from Kazakhstan, to catch his interviewees in embarrassing and compromising situations. Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller confirmed earlier this month that he also fell victim to one of Cohen’s pranks for the sequel to 2006’s Borat. “Good thing I’m not one of those politicians who take themselves too seriously,” Miller said, adding that Cohen had also pulled one over on Giuliani. The movie will be available to stream Friday via Amazon Prime.
